Complex Data Management

The European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) in collaboration with a pharmaceutical partner, wanted to create a website that would act as a repository for obesity related publications.  They required multiple versions of the site, with each being able to be branded for different stakeholders, and contain unique data.

There are hundreds of publications released each month, some are relevant for all of the partners, and some only to a limited number or partners.  So the system needed to be able to create multiple version of the site, with a shared set of primary data, and also allow individual sites to upload and manage their own publications.

The solution was to create a WordPress multi-site, this allows individual partners to have their own site and include publications relevant to the audience, and also include centrally controlled publications that are shown on all sites.

EASO were concerned about the time it could take to manage the monthly data inclusion.  So a custom data import function was developed, allowing the main sites wide data to be imported from Excel into a primary admin site, and specific sites have their own separate version of the data import function for their specific  publications.
